The Japan Practice Group is devoted to the needs of its many clients, both Korean and Japanese, engaged in the investment and supply of goods and services between Korea and Japan.  Japanese clients include both multi-nationals and medium and small-sized companies engaged in a wide range of business sectors, from manufacturing to trading to financial services.

The Firm is keenly aware of the profound economic ties which call for the utmost preparation in all areas of legal service for such cross-border transactions, and in general it is the Firm's philosophy to accommodate and adapt to the specific needs of its foreign clients. Therefore, the Practice Group includes a number of attorneys who have received legal training--both academic and practical--in Japan, and who maintain the proficiency in the Japanese language necessary to provide effective advice to its Japanese clients, as well as to fully assist Korean clients in working with their Japanese counterparts.

An area of particular emphasis in serving Japanese clients is inbound investment.  The Practice Group has assisted numerous Japanese firms in establishing and running joint ventures, and in executing both stock and asset acquisitions--an area of dramatic growth in recent years.  The Practice Group also has a large and fast-growing intellectual property section (led by Hoo Dong LEE, a Tokyo University LL.M.), which handles numerous licensing, technology transfer, and patent and trademark matters for numerous Japanese clients.

Other practice areas include:  joint ventures; inbound direct investment; securities; corporate and operational issues, including employment-related matters; licensing, technology transfer and other intellectual property matters; real estate; and litigation and enforcement of claims.
